Choosing and using 3Dconnexion products
What is a 3D mouse?
A 3D mouse, such as the 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse, has a pressure-sensitive cap with six degrees of freedom (6DoF). Pushing, pulling, twisting or tilting the cap pans, zooms and rotates your model smoothly and at the same time, instead of clicking and dragging.
Does a SpaceMouse replace my normal mouse?
No. It works alongside it. You move the model with the SpaceMouse in one hand while your regular mouse (ideally a CAD mouse like the CadMouse) selects and edits with the other. Most users take a few days to adjust, then find they need far fewer clicks and less hand movement.
Which 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse should I buy?
For occasional 3D work or beginners, the SpaceMouse Compact. For laptop users, the SpaceMouse Wireless. For daily professional CAD work, the SpaceMouse Pro (wired) or SpaceMouse Pro Wireless. Which software works with a SpaceMouse?
3Dconnexion devices support hundreds of 3D applications through the 3DxWare 10 driver, including SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion, AutoCAD, Revit, 3ds Max, Maya, PTC Creo, CATIA, Siemens NX, Solid Edge, Rhino, SketchUp, Blender and Bentley MicroStation. Do 3Dconnexion devices work on Mac?
Yes, SpaceMouse models work on macOS with the 3DxWare 10 driver, though not every feature is available in every Mac application. The 3Dconnexion Keyboard Pro with Numpad is Windows-only.
Is a SpaceMouse suitable for left-handed users?
Yes. The SpaceMouse goes in whichever hand isn't on your regular mouse. Right-handed users usually place it to the left of the keyboard, and left-handed users to the right. For left-handers who want a matching CAD mouse, there is the CadMouse Pro Wireless Left.
Wired or wireless?
Wired models (SpaceMouse Compact, SpaceMouse Pro, SpaceMouse Enterprise, CadMouse Pro, CadMouse Compact) suit a fixed desk. Wireless models (SpaceMouse Wireless, SpaceMouse Pro Wireless, CadMouse Compact Wireless, CadMouse Pro Wireless) connect via Bluetooth or the 3Dconnexion Universal Receiver, which can connect up to five 3Dconnexion wireless devices through one small USB receiver.
What warranty do 3Dconnexion products have?
Depending on the model, 3Dconnexion devices carry a 2- or 3-year manufacturer warranty. The SpaceMouse Enterprise gets an additional year when registered with 3Dconnexion within 90 days of purchase. The warranty period is listed on each product page.
Ordering, delivery and invoices
Are your prices in Australian dollars?
Yes. All prices on Digital3d.com.au are in AUD and include GST, and we ship Australia-wide. We sell genuine 3Dconnexion products only.
How long will my order take to arrive?
3Dconnexion products generally arrive within 1 to 3 business days.
How will my order be shipped?
We ship by courier or Australia Post. Once your order is processed, we email you a tracking number. A signature is required on delivery.
I'm buying for work. Will I get a tax invoice?
Yes. Our payment system automatically emails a tax invoice, including our ABN, to the email address you provide at checkout.
Do you offer volume pricing for businesses, schools and larger organisations?
