PRO ARCHITECT 14 - FEATURING AUSTRALIAN & NEW ZEALAND STANDARDS
Pro Architect includes the most comprehensive catalog of Australian and New Zealand standard elements including roofs, walls, doors, windows, ceilings, floors, columns, footings, openings, solar panels, water tanks, plants and much more.
CUT/COPY/PASTE FROM 1 MODEL TO THE NEXT
Sharing items inside a project or from one project to another is important. Now you can either cut or copy an item from one model and paste it into another part of the model or onto another model. This is a great tool with the aim of added efficiency for the user. How better to save time then to be able to take items and reuse them in new models without the need to redo. Great new tool for quicker modeling when you are busy!
SAVE GROUP TO CATALOG
Elements in a model can now be grouped together and saved to the catalog. Once they are reinserted, they become individual items so they quantify properly and can be moved as individual elements. This is a great way to deal with Base plus options. Group an entire bath or sunroom layout or just a group of cabinets in a favourite orientation. Use it repeatedly in all your projects. Fantastic tool to make your work easier.
STEP BACK - ROOF POINTS
Putting a roof on a model using the “Picking Points” option now gets easier with the ability to Step Back. The latest version now includes the “Step Back” option in case you want to repick a point that you need to change. This is a quicker way to get the roof constructed than having to redo all the points. The perfect tool to ensure more precision in your work.
WINDOW & DOOR UNIQUE HEADER TRIM
Trim that is automatically put around a window or a door in a model can now have customized pieces for the window or door head. This allows for more elaborate trim options and more accurate bill of materials. A fantastic tool for more precision in your models.
GARAGE DOOR SILLS
Garage doors now have the option to also include a sill like all other door types. Leading to more precise models that reflect in a refined bill of materials.
FLOATING CABINET STYLE
Cabinets now include a toe space option for floating cabinet styles. This new option includes a height variable that will float the cabinet off the floor at the specified height. This is a quicker way to create a cabinet style for your projects.
INSERTION OFFSET BOUNDARIES
When inserting an element, like a bathtub, you can now set distances around the tub to offset it from other objects. It will then use that information, like a forcefield, when inserting the element and ensure it sits exactly those set distances away from other objects. Use it to specify minimum distances away or precise distances you want to set an object away from other objects. This is the perfect new feature for more precise models.
When design changes hit, the match appearance tool will make those changes easier. Now swipe over your entire model and select the element that you want as your primary element and then all other similar elements will take on the primary appearance. Great way to update cabinets in an entire model. A fantastic tool to make your work quicker.
FIND AND REPLACE CATALOG ELEMENTS
Catalogs can house an unlimited number of products and over time these products may be retired from your inventory and replaced by something new. Now you can trace where they exist in the catalog, if they have been included as an assembly or a framing element and replace them with another element or delete them all together. This is a fantastic way to quickly update your catalog.
FLOOR JOIST NOTE
Once you insert a floor joist layout plan to a working drawing sheet you can now quickly annotate it with a floor joist note using the new tool. It incorporates the text you want to appear and the standard floor joist span symbol. This makes it easier to make a fully labeled floor plan.
MULTIPLE SELECT LAYER PRIORITY
Added functionality has been added to the “Set Priority” command that stacks worksheet views front and back on a sheet. Now instead of setting the priority individually you can select multiple layers at the same time to make it a much quicker process.
Pro Architect is part of the Envisioneer suite of products. Envisioneer Version 14 is a unified creative workspace and design platform where everyone uses the same 3D BIM model to design and build from concept to construction. Each of Envisioneer’s 4 products works seamlessly with integration partners like Autodesk, SketchUp, Mitek, 2020 and more, and each comes packed with the right amount of functionality to match your project requirements and budget.
LAYER ORDERING – FRONT TO BACK
When creating a worksheet, you will insert many items onto the sheet like SmartViews of your model, image files, text and line work. When you want them to overlap each other you need to specify which element is on top and which are in the back. You can prioritise the order of the items by their layers. Each layer has a priority number and the higher the number the more the element will be pushed to the top and those with a lower number will appear underneath those elements with a higher number. This is a great way to ensure your working drawings look professional every time.
As you work on a plan you can highlight a room. This is a great feature when inserting elements in a room to see the actual boundaries of the room. Inserting elements by room is used by various utilities in Pro Architect, like floors and ceilings. The room highlight feature makes it easier to see which room you are inserting the element in as it highlights. Makes inserting elements easier!
PACK AND GO
File and Project sharing is a big part of modern business practices and Cadsoft recognises the importance of making sharing as clean and easy as possible. Now when saving a project you can also “Pack Resources” with the project file. The resources include any textures and line styles that someone else may not have on their system so by packing the resources you can share them easier.
IFC BLOCK IMPORTER
Pro Architect has increased the compatibility and collaboration efforts by expanding the Universal Block Importer to accept IFC files. Import blocks in the Industry Foundation Class (IFC) standard file format. This increases Pro Architect’s BIM capabilities.
IFC MODEL IMPORT
The Industry Foundation Class (IFC) is a standard file format for all CAD packages to make file sharing easier. Envisioener has expanded the IFC capabilities by importing IFC models and recognising walls, doors and window elements during import. This is tool is perfect for those that share their work with other industry professionals.
AUTO INSERT ELECTRICAL OUTLETS
The Auto Insert Electrical tool makes inserting electrical outlets an easier task. Set the document settings to reflect your preferred electrical layout settings regarding the distance between outlets and the distance from an opening. Using these settings the auto insert tool lets you insert the outlets in a room in one easy routine.
Pro Architect has advanced material property settings so you can create a photorealistic appearance to your projects. Take advantage of Bump map settings to give materials the illusion of crevices and elevations in the texture so it looks realistic. This is a great way to elevate the look of renderings in a project.
The View Filter dialog box includes Section symbols, Elevation Symbols, Cameras & Animation Paths for a comprehensive dialog box to control the visibility of all items. This is helpful when inserting views onto a worksheet for ProArchitect, Building Essentials and Construction Suite.
HATCH ON A UNIQUE LAYER
Hatch can be automatically applied to walls and various other elements. That hatch can be designated to its own unique layer so it can have separate line weight, line colour and visibility options separate from the element it was attached to. This enhances the appearance of Pro Architect models.
SITE BOUNDARY LINE ENHANCEMENT
The setback lines, boundary lines and pegs can be on their own unique layer so you can give them separate line weights, line colours and turn them on and off as necessary. Great for professional looking site plans.
PROGRAM AND DOCUMENT SETTINGS
The Program Settings and Document Settings are separated for clarity. Find all the settings that effect a project in the document settings and find the general program settings in the Program Settings dialog box. This makes it easier to find the settings you want to personalise.
MONO FOOTING AUTOMATION
Pro Architect has some great footing and foundation tools to stream line the work to design a foundation plan. When you have many columns in a plan that require footings beneath them you can take advantage of the “Attach to All Similar” option to insert the same footing under all similar columns. Takes extra work out of a project to save you time.
SORT ON SUPPLIER
Pro Architect includes many pieces of information that can be attributed to the various elements. One of those variables is “Supplier”. When you create a quantity report you can sort the elements listed in the report by many different fields including phase of construction or usage of material. You can also sort by the Supplier so the report is logically grouped by the suppliers you will use.
CATHEDRAL & TRAY CEILING UPDATES
Pro Architect has setting options for both Cathedral and Tray ceilings to include the same slope definition options that are available with a roof. Specify the slope in a variety of formats so you can work with the information that you have available.
DATUM LINE LOCATION ENHANCEMENT
When inserting datum lines with an elevation or a section, you can indicate which locations you want to include and disregard so only the locations you want to label are included in the datum lines.
DECREASED FILE SIZE
Images that have been imported into Pro Architect are compressed so they don’t inflate your file size. This helps reduce lag in a model that has incorporated a larger image files, increasing your productivity.
ENVISIONEER VR APP ENHANCEMENTS
The Envisioneer VR app, available in the Google Play Store and the Apple Store, includes touch navigation controls, so you can navigate through a immersive panoramic view easier. The interface of the App also includes graphical previews of the panoramas so it is easier to select the one that you want to view.

Use Virtual Reality it while you're designing to confirm your design choices and show clients as a virtual showroom of what they will get after construction. Designers, builders, homeowners, and developers can all benefit from a virtual reality setup. Gain an edge over the competition and impress clients with virtual reality tours of their design. Have an informed conversation about their home and the changes they would like to see, before problems arise on site.
Pivot Doors are an available door style type. When specifying a pivot door you have all of the customisation options available for other doors plus you can specify the distance away from the edge of the frame where the pivot origin is fastened.
CUSTOM DOOR LEAF
Use any style you can imagine for both main doors and cabinet doors. By importing a door leaf block you can create any custom style of leaf you require for a project and save it to use in future projects as well. Each part of the door leaf can be mapped to components available to retain the custom features of the door leaf.
In an environmentally conscious world we need to ensure that the U factor for doors and windows is an influence in home design. Record the U factor of a door or window in the automatic schedules. This ensures that all of the relevant information is well documented for the final working drawings.
The room dimension tool in Pro Architect displays the dimensions of a room by your specified preferred layout and dimension style, giving you the flexibility you need when documenting a presentation plan.
After inserting a surface, ceiling, floor or deck in Pro Architect you can continue to reshape the structure by adding and removing node points, like a hinge point, to the outline. This allows you to pull the shape into new directions for advanced modeling capabilities. A great way to customise your designs in Pro Architect.
ROOF FRAMING BOARD DESIGNATIONS
Stick framing a roof in Pro Architect is very accurate. Not only is the roof easy to insert but custom options allow you to specify each board used when stick framing. This increases the accuracy of material reports and the information can be retained so it can be used for all future work as well.
ROOF FRAMING POINT
Pro Architect automatically stick frames a roof that has been inserted with boards that you specify. You can manually move the framing start point to accommodate custom framing layouts and ensure the design matches the finish product.
GABLE EDGE DETAILS
Pro Architect has the flexibility of taking a roof and breaking it into individual surface planes so any custom roof can be accomplished. When you convert a roof to surfaces it can retain the original gable end return specifications and it can use those for the basis of any further modifications that you want to make in the roof edge editor.
Creating a home design incorporates many pieces but you don't necessarily want every element in your model showing at once for clarity. In Pro Architect, the View Filter allows elements visibility to be turned on and off to add clarity to different views. Save your choices in a template so you can quickly restore the view you wanted. This is an efficient way to view framing, electrical or furniture layout views in a Pro Architect model without a lot of extra setup work.
Pro Architect's member and advanced member commands are perfect tools for inserting individual beams and other framing members to a design. When you insert the member you can designate that it is associated with either the roof, ceiling, floor or deck to ensure that it can be viewed with the other appropriate framing components.
Once you have completed your home design in Pro Architect, you can then prepare it for working drawings by applying marks to the various items. Marks can be applied to doors, windows, openings, members, cabinets and any other element type. The marks can help to document the required work and ensure your Pro Architect working drawings are detailed.
When creating a home design project in Pro Architect you may change the size of furniture and cabinetry as the design progresses. These elements may have custom fabric or finishes applied to them. Pro Architect has automatic texture remapping to ensure that the texture applied to the object adjusts correctly as you stretch and shrink an object.
Pro Architect incorporates a spacer cabinet as a choice when inserting a cabinet so it can accurately reflect what you will need to order. The filler piece can be labeled with the correct sku and ordering information.
Pro Architect has flexibility when designing the countertop for a cabinet. It can be automatically inserted with individual cabinets or it can be inserted separately as a seamless piece. By picking points to designate the back edge of the countertop you effortlessly insert it. You can customise the edges and backsplash for a detailed design and even curve out the individual sides.
Pro Architect offers flexibility when displaying cabinets in plan views. If you prefer to have the edges of the cabinets displayed or turned off, you can make that choice for your drawings.
Pro Architect's ability to import and export to many different applications makes it a true BIM platform. Uploading Pro Architect drawings and material information to an [[Enterprise Resource Planning|ERP]] system is one of the options available to further the integration capabilities. Pro Architect's integration to ERP is a great time saver for those using Enterprise Resource Planning tools in their business.
